    Hi Everyone,

I am putting an 8 3/4 into my 65 dart that has apparently been narrowed. It did not come with brake lines or the vent and tee. I received custom replacement axles from Dr Diff . I am now working on trying to get the brake line kit that will work for this rear end. However it appears the dimensions of the rear are slightly off. First off from drum to drum it measures 56 3/4 almost an 1 inch shorter than what it should be, second the vent hole location is 14 1/4 away from center., which is much further than the stock location. So I am going to have custom brake lines made for the rear end, that's not a problem. My question is should I be concerned about the axle being nearly 3/4 of an inch shorter than it should be? The axle needed to be replaced because one was shorter then the other by quite a lot. The leaf spring perches measure correctly at 43". The axle hosing is the same length on either side measuring from the center .- thanks

How does it line up in the car, are you able to see a straight line of site to the rear yoke on the transmission? I really think we need more information &/or pictures to answer your question correctly.

Until you get closer to installing it, it's a guessing game for us. No offense intended.

Yeah no problem. I was hoping someone has run into this before. But I will update once I get it in.

Last time I installed a shorter differential I bent my own lines and flared them.

if you don’t want to bend and flare your own the if you can find sections of line with pre installed fittings at the auto parts store that are a little long you can put a few slight bends in the length so they fit.

The lines with some copper in them are much easier to bend with a hand held bender than steel lines.

Could be an A100 or A108 rear.

Axles should be equal, the pinion offset is the same as the motor so im not sure whats going on with that axle. You can cut and respline the long axle but obviously cant go the other way.

You know there’s 2 different A body housings, right? There’s the late 65-69 unit with the brake splitter block almost on the hump, and the 70 and later unit with the splitter down on the Drivers side tube a couple inches. Maybe that is contributing to your brake line problem. They make both sets, just need to order the correct set.
