Ok my youngest daughter just got her first car a 69 dart.. Was pulling the front brakes off as they where locked up. The pass side a arm is rotted at its mounting point in the rear.. So my question is can this be fixed/replaced? Don't really want to tell her that she bought a piece of junk that we know have to try to part out and not fix it up?
I'm new at the Mopar world so just checking before I pull her heart out and give her false info. Any info would be really great. Steve

A arm rotten or mount on K member rotten...?

Both can be replaced....

Pictures are worth a thousand words.......

Looks like the mount on the frame. Was thinking about the arm also will need to be replaced. Is there a place that makes the replacement pieces for the frame?

So your talking upper A arm and mount. More than likely you will have to replace frame rail from bumper to transmission x member. Might be good time to look at aftermarket k frame and coil overs. A good welder may be able to cut a section from another frame and weld it in. Depends how bad frame is rotted. This is your daughter your putting in the car so fix it right!

I hope that heavy scale rust isn't the norm under the car, or that won't be the only area you'll be fixing! Better check the rear spring perches and the crossmember area where the torsion bars mount!! Hopefully it is just up front where you're working, better check around though please, this is your daughter were talking about!!! Geof

Ditto this. Better get that car up on all 4 corners or a lift and get a good look at everything. All suspension points, k-frame mounts, fuel lines, brake lines, gas tank, floor boards, etc.

Long time ago before any replacement parts were around for this I boxed the hell out of the upper control arm area. I reinforced it so well IM betting it's the only part of the car that still exists lol. Best to check out the entire car as the other members suggest....but it can be done....

Yea we have been crawling around under it floors are ok, the rear springs need a little work.. trunk is also not bad only at the quarters is got some holes going on... tank looks ok rear brake line has a hole leaks fluid but we know that getting in to it. a lot of that on the front a arm pic is dirt that is caked up there. We will be going threw this car before we turn her loose.. Just not sure if it is worth the fix yet, pricing all the pieces to see if she can do it. Thanks for all the help.

We have been spending more time on here reading and it looks like this is kinda common on the old A body. I just think I was jumping the gun and getting my self worked up. Seen there is a lot of companies that make the parts that we are needing or want. This is my 8th classic restore. 4 of them have been for my other 2 kids. This is my first rebuild on a Mopar and for my youngest daughter. So the learning and the memories never stops.

Money and time. Most can be fixed if you have both.

Just gotta measure the value be it real money or sentiment.

Above all else have Fun and the best of luck if you decide to fix her!
