I am thinking about adding an Oil Filter Bypass to my 318.
It has 2.5k miles on the rebuild. My mechanic at the time of the rebuild put in a synthetic blend oil.
I plan to go to the full synthetic at next oil change. I would also like to add a oil bypass kit to it at that time.

I need suggestions, recommendations and any results from those that have put one on your A body.

    Thanx Ed

Brandon, thank you for the reply. That is an oil bypass, but where is the filtering?

It's a bypass system. It won't get dirty...

I guess I do not know enough about this to understand. I thought the oil needed to go thru the block.
The oil gets dirty from the cylinder walls, NO?

I am hoping it will extend the life of the motor so the car can be handed down to one of my daughters and their children.

Plus with the exception of paint, I am done on the car. A new toy I guess

A lot of engine wear is from the carb not tuned to the nth degree, that is why fuel injection engines usually last longer, less fuel wash on cyl walls, plug fouling ect. a properly tuned and maintained engine will last 200,00 miles, at least for a /6 or s/b, b/b.

    2× on above post.

If you are worried about wear, keep the air cleaner changed too.

that is a $249. joke for what? bypass the stock location filter for a filter in a different location? how is that better than a good filter in the stock location? and if u are not running roller lifters do not go full synthetic. use good old common sense methods to get your engine to last many miles

I guess the answer to my post is No. Seems no one (that replied) has put one on their A body.
Thank you for your suggestions and recommendations.
I will put something on my Duster to improve the oil filtering over what is on there now. As I sit here thinking, I think that a previous owner has put some device on the filter hookup.
I guess I will remove that and try to figure out why it was installed in the first place

A engine pre-oiler would go a long way in extending engine life. The majority of engine wear occurs on start-up.

    Another question:
I have the Mancini electronic ignition and an Edelbrock 1406 carb. Which port on the carb should the vacuum advance be hooked up to Ported Vacuum Port or the Full-time Vacuum Port??

I am currently hooked up to the first one (Ported) I am reading the Mancini literature and it does not say and I called Mancini, but as I did not buy it from them, he did not look it up and said he would venture a guess, I hung up

    Thanx

The Frantz by pass system came out in the fifties. It is just like a lot of other things advertised, "SNAKE OIL". Using a top of the line oil & air filter will add many miles to your toy. Keeping it tuned & changing the vital fluids on regular intervals, as needed will also add miles to it. Whomever is selling those kits will laugh all the way to the bank with "your" $250.00.

There is no magic bullet that will make your engine last forever. There are plenty of claims though.

If it's a street car, it should be attached to ported vacuum. Funny. You changed your mind three times and finally decided not to buy my carburetor and bought someone else's and I answered your question anyway. How's that for customer service? Good luck. I hope it all comes together for you. Pictures and video would be cool when you are done.
