I just got my 360 back from the machine shop yesterday and put it back in. I decided to go with a 340 HP exhaust, which I have everything for and fits perfect except for the oil filter. My question is if I go with a 90 degree adaptor does the tube from the block just unscrew and the adaptor just screw into the existing hole? the oil pan doesn't need to come off, right? This car is fight me every step.

Yep, just unscrew the nipple where the oil filter screws onto and the long bolt with the adaptor screws right in that hole. make sure you have all 3 (I think there three) gaskets for the adaptor.

It's a bolt on deal. You take the plate off the block and then bolt the right angle adapter on. Make sure you have the correct gaskets.

Thanks. Does it matter what angle the filter eventually rests in? I know there’s not going to be much of a choice, but preferably horizontal or downward?

Any way you want it. But they usually wind up more or less horizontal. Nice setup because it always dumps oil on the torsion bar, exhaust pipe, or both!
