Oil Pan and Oil Pump on 360

There is no need to use a high volume pump unless you are going to be turning the engine in excess of 6000 rpm on a regular basis. I have no personal experience but there is a concern that a high volume oil pump can suck a srock pan dry at higher rpm's
 
i got a hv pump and a stock pan on my 360 and no problems yet. I do get concerned though so i keep 6 qts in her
 
Over filling the oil pan is worse than having it under filled. The crank will wipe the oil up into foam reducing power and causing air to get into the oiling system.
 
That would take more like two or three quarts overfilled. There's plenty of room for an extra quart in a mopar v8 - big or small block...
