I am looking for a show and a good driver only. No hot rod.:stop:
I have a offy intake for my little/6 170.
It looks like the exhaust is the big problem here.:-k
I have learned there is no difference in the 225 and 170/ exhaust.
So! The original pipe that connects to my exhaust from factory looks small.
Or is it the biggest pipe I can connect to the manifold.????:sad4:
Remember I just want a good driver and show:-D so what can be dun to use the 170/ standard trans, I have a very light foot, so how bad will the
390 Holley with out headers. Can this be accomplished.

I have sat here wondering if I should even ask such a question.:help:
I do not have the 390 yet, so I am looking for some suggestions.
Victoria don't need more power for my use, just a good look under the hood.
I will keep the three on the tree and just up grade to electronic ignition.
new dist and all mopar parts.

Am I just dreaming :help::salute:

Mike,
I have had every combination under the moon on my /6 car.
I started with a 1bbl, than a 2bbl, and finally a 4 bbl.
I built a pretty trick exhaust manifold that I honed out and gasket matched. Ripped out the heat riser, and welded the holes. This manifold ran very strong. Ended up selling it for $250.00. Got to be a record lol.

When I started,my car was a stock 225 with a 1bbl 1920 Holley carb. I added
a single 2.25" exhaust to the back. Topped that off with a Pertronix electronic ign, good wires and a MSD Blaster coil. With the larger exhaust I went up 2 sizes on the main jet. This was a great upgrade, with a definate seat of the pants performance gain.

This is where I think you should start. Put on your electronic ign, with a good set of wires, and coil (MSD Blaster) and add a 2.25" exhaust, from the manifold back. Then go up 2 sizes on the main jet. You will see a real power gain ,and be contempt for a while. While your at it, add a free flowing air cleaner.

What carb is on your car Carter or Holley?

Anyways this is where I would start, then you/we can figure out the next step.
If you have any questions, PLEASE ask.

I am all stock 55.000 mile car.
So if I am under standing you right I can hone out and gasket matched and rip out the heat riser on the factory exhaust and put 2.25 pipe all the way back and install my offy 4 bbl intake
and install a very small four bbl carb.
I have not picked out a carb yet, So with that being said. Am I understanding you right?? I just want a good show and a driver /6 mine is a 170 low deck not a tall 225.

Factory carb ball and ball pea shooter. I have been told a 390 Holley is one way to go. I do like the carters better, But I don't think they make a small
enough 4 bbl.

This will be and is the before picture of what I am running know.
Sorry for the blur I ran out and took this picture this morning.

And I have the Mopar factory electronic ignition to go on it all new.
I will up grade to the chrome box and mopar high out put coil.

Mike,
What I am suggesting for now:

1.Install electronic ign,
2.Good set of wires, MSD Blaster coil #8203.
3.Add a 2.25" single exhaust.
4. Free flowing air-cleaner.

Leave everything else as is for now. With the addition of the new exhaust and air-cleaner you might feel a slight bog on take off. If this is the case, go 2 sizes bigger on the main jet.

"IMPORTANT" "Always do one change at a time".
If something isnt right, you know where to look.

Going to a 2bbl or 4bbl will take some fabricating and additional parts. If you want to go this route, collect the necessary parts first, then go for it.
With the set-up above you will be able to drive the car now, with some additional performance.
