Well I called Crane and they sent me the cam card for my cam in question. I'm guessing its pretty old since its advertised as a 3/4 race cam lol
What do you guy's think of the specks for a street car that will see limited 1/8 mile runs now and then? I think it will be a dog on a street car with only 9:1 compression. But, any comments are appreciated, thanks

It would be a pig on the street.

Well, a lot depends on everything else about the car. Cars weight, Converter, gear ratio and tire size. I know Crane likes to say to use more compression than everyone else does. The cam is a bit slow and lazy on the ramps. Don't let it get you down when others start chiming in. IF thats what ya got, then run it.
Are your heads stock? At .500 lift, a bowl porting would be good.

The .500 lift doesn't scare me. The 246° @.050 / 328° advertised duration and the 3500-6500 rpm range does.

I emailed Crane Cams for mine. Here it is below. It just needs decent gear and a converter do run well.

Try 4.10’s or 4.30’s with those tires.

I think I will loose a lot of cylinder pressure with it

A little more livable. A 300°/500 lift cam is a pretty aggressive cam and I agree, a 3000 stall converter and a 3.73 gear could make it work.

Kind of suck because although it's over 30 years old, it's a brand new cam and lifters

There's a reason why no one used it.

I ran an old Cam Dynamics 300H in a 340 back in the day. That thing was a dog under 3000 rpm. This one will be even worse.

Just run it with the right converter and gears to scoot! It'll be fine.

Basically stock but the weird thing is that it has brand new pistons in the stock bore that are for a 73 340 sealed power 3369p and about 0.080 below the deck!!!! The stock 69 pistons were "I think" 10.5:1 so why would he have not used them? Especially with that cam?

Your slugs are .80 in the hole? Leave the cam right where it is. You don't have enough compression for anything but a broom stick cam.

It'll be deadsville below 3000-4000 RPM with 9:1. Standard old style cam for getting that level of lift with the older sloooow ramps. Look at the duration difference between advertised and .050": 82 fricking degrees LOL. That is some sort of record....Modern fast ramp cams are around 44 degrees + or -. RF360's cam is 54 degrees different.

ON A STOCK 360 LA, DCR WORKS OUT TO 4.0 !!! Not even close for a street cam.... need to run 12:1 or so SCR to get torque. Looks like a serious circle track cam.

So a 340 then. Yes low compression if they're that far in the hole. Do what you wish but there's 100's of cams that would work better. I agree with Rumble, It needs a healthy converter and gears.

That's my plan but I'm going to check out what Hughes has to offer because I don't want to have to reinvent the wheel lol I've been hearing good things about the Hughes cams for lower compression engines

The understatement of the century LOL. The intake closing is a 90 degrees ABDC...WOW.
