Look at these pictures of a 4 bolt X block. Not splayed

That does mean you can’t put a splayed cap on an X block.

Those caps were made by Milodon and maybe others for the TA blocks. They knew it was a small market if they used a straight outer bolt so they splayed the bolts and used 3/8 fasteners so they could be installed on any block.

Yea, the X blocks used 1/2 inch outer bolts that are straight, not angled( splayed) from Mopar, anyway. I have never seen aftermarket caps on an X block, it would be a worse mousetrap than the way they came factory

All I need to look at is the OPs pictures to tell me it’s a splayed 4 bolt cap. That’s all we should be concerned with in this thread. Right? With aftermarket stuff any combination of main caps is possible really. It coulda been a 2 bolt block that someone drilled for splayed 4 bolt caps.

Yes, my X-block has Milodon caps with splayed outer bolts. You gotta remember that this engine was built at about the same time as the X-block showed up in the catalog, pretty early.
