I don't mean to insult you. It just sounds too good to be true. I am also amazed that it isn't something that I have heard about before now.
I lost 3 cams in 2 different engines due to lobe and lifter failure so I am skeptical about this. That is why when I went to a solid cam, I was really happy to learn of the oiling feature of the EDM lifters.
Again, No Offense, I am still surprised at the idea of this.

I'd be less offended if you just said I can't believe I learned something from an idiot like you...lol..

Resurfacing used lifters is 100 year old technology.

When I was a 14 year old kid we had a valve grinder with the lifter resurfacing attachment in the gas station I worked at... And at my high school shop.

You have to put away those catalogs and quit visiting those web pages that convince you to buy all those shiny objects they sell!

(Just wait until he hears way back when you could grind a rod journal or bore a block without pulling the engine!)

Kim...it's usually not the duty, but the taxes they charge you at Customs when the value is over about $100. I've never paid duty on any car parts I've brought in from the US, but then, I can go to my airport and clear them through customs myself....saves UPS/FedEX/whoever fees!

Darwin, u r correct. When my sister remembers to tell them at the border that it’s for an antique car they tell her to have a nice day. If she forgets they charge the taxes and then again sometimes not. Kim

Maybe the practice of resurfacing fell out of favor when the prices of Chinese made lifters became common ?

They can’t be resurfaced flat. They have to have a concave surface so they rotate. So I wonder how they do that. Kim

Uhhh, they have a CONVEX surface not concave. If it's concave, you are in the poop.

If you google lifter resurfacing machines you can see what they look like. Been around forever.

As Krooser said they used to make attachments for valve grinders to resurface lifters.

The real issue is lifters have gotten cheaper so the unit price is through the floor. If you have the machine and it's paid for you can make some money. To go and buy a machine isn't cost effective.

Plus, unless I know the history of the lifter, I never resurface a hydraulic lifter. The hydraulics wear out.

Ya, I was thinking convex but still spelled concave. Kim

Rigger...would also like to hear about your engine and drive train set-up. Always good to hear thoughts about cam vs combo.

Yes, cam grinders can touch up lifters.

Speaking of ceramic coatings, does anyone think ceramic coating could be applied to regular flat tappet lifters and hold up to the punishment of a race engine. Kim
