So I've been finding covers are getting thinner and more expensive. I bought a USA made cover craft $180 outdoor cover and measured it- .011" and also a cheap $37 eBay also .011"
These are supposedly outdoor uv resistant covers but I can pick up the box and feel the lightweight paper thin stuff that's inside.
The last cheap cover I bought had a hole in it within a month from sun damage.
Who makes a good cover and what does it cost? Cover craft prices go up to $550.
The Costco covers I used to get were 3x the weight these things are and lasted 1-2 years.

Can someone bust out the mic and check for me?

My car cover. 5A94C3DD-DF60-44AF-8E3D-91C023F58249.jpeg I dont think you can buy anything that will last any more. Need two, one to protect paint and another to protect it from the elements.

I have yet to find one water proof, they seem to think they should breathe! I'd just l would like one that kept the water and elements off when needed, not every day.

I have one of the Covercraft ones from Costco for my Ventura, bought it 8 or 9 years ago, seems to be a waterproof coating on it, it's only been used outdoors once, normally the car is stored inside, still in great shape. Had one for my last fox body Mustang as well, same design, sold it with the car.

24x40. I did some work for a guy and he pretty much gave it to me. Had a silver tarp that started to let go,so i ordered the white cover. Way heavier and expected to last 20 years or more. Lets lots of light in.
I built the front wall to support the roll up door. As it sits, cost me about 5 grand. Expensive car cover. Worth it to me, as i end up with customers cars that may sit here for some time, i like to put them indoors out of the weather. Had maybe 6 hail storms this year. They would be pissed if it got hail damage. 47C79691-DA9D-4EDC-9800-8FC0D16CA996.jpeg

My son has one of the trap building out behind the shop for now. Works good we just needed to add hold downs to each poll after it blew over in a wind storm. Luck his car was in the building at the time. He also but grommets in and added more straps around the polls after that. But for a 400.00 temp building it is good

I used a cal car cover on my RAM SRT that had to stay outside and it fell apart every couple years. They would send a replacement under warranty but for the price of the cover and how they market them as being the best thing ever they shouldn’t fail after 2 years outside. The stitching would just come undone and fail.

That's exactly what I had! It only lasted one year of desert sun.
Thought about pricing a canvas cover to put over the frame

They are built pretty well. I bought one second hand 2 years ago and used it for a year to store my car outside while I was building a new garage. It worked well and even handled the snow load well (although last winter here in VT was not that bad). I'd just go out after (and sometimes during) a snow storm and clear off the top using a push broom like a snow rake. I would suggest installing a vent however. I did not but instead just relied on descent packs. My car, that was already crusty came out even worse. You could make one yourself, or shelterlogic sells one as an accessory here: AutoVent Automatic Shelter Vent Kit

I have 1 that I got used from a neighbor. The Roof gave out and he put metal on it. The sides are still in great shape. It’s probably 15 years old plus.

I have an indoor cover from Covercraft and really like it! But pretty much anything would survive indoors.
