! have what I believe is a 74 440 in my Duster and it is always hot 220++
Should I be using a 185f or 185F skirted thermostat ? OR is there something that I'm not seeing. I have looked at a lot of things and nothing helps. I don't think I could buy 4 bad thermostats in row. thanks

What type of fan are you using? And shroud or no shroud?

16 inch on the outside (electric pusher, not so good) no shroud. Hoping to change all this to dual fans with shroud inside soon

    That's your problem.

A thermostat change won't do any good. You are running 220. At 220 every thermostat out there will be open, if it's not, it's bad.

The #1 problem with cooling systems is that people building bad cooling systems.

I just changed. I had an under powered puller. I just bought a Ford Taurus fan. Do a thread search on Taurus fans.

220Plus, on the gauge or 220+ using an IR gun to find the hottest part of the cooling system, usually just under the stat?

220Plus idling in gear in traffic, or 220 screaming down the the hiway at 4000 rpm, or 220Plus at 35 mph in Drive. Each of these requires a different solution. Or I could give you a recipe to cover all of them, but you won't like me much.
