If you'd post a good clear picture of the fender tag you'd get a better answer then if someone guessed based on that description you gave.

Greens generally stated with "F" in 1973.

...but the first digit of the three digit code was the first year the paint was used.

"F6" was a real common color of green.

IIRC the first year of that specific color was 1969, so it would be "E".....or "EF6"

Paint code is usually on the left side of the tag.

If your car does not have a vinyl top, there should be two of the same codes, one on top of the other-

EF6
EF6

If it does have a vinyl top, then the code for the top is on top- (black, full vinyl top)-

V1X
EF6

That is one of the few things on a tag that is not read bottom to top, left to right.

I think I got all that right.

Seventh digit of your Vin is the code for the assembly plant. Each assembly plant formatted their fender tags slightly different.
Figure out which assy plant, and we can help decode from there.
Post a pic of the tag, for the most help.

Paint code location on fender tags are in the same location since 1969 regardless of plant.

cant tell if its F3 or F8 F3 is amber sherwood green F8 is forest green forest green is alot darker

It is for sure a JF8 I just looked at the plate . I would like any more info off the plate would be appreciated . Thank You for the color code It id a Dark Green almost with a little metallic in it. John B.

lol, it's 240 hp. The E55 340 275 hp is almost like a default when it's typed in.

Don't mean to be persnickity, but...
The 240hp was gross rating, reflecting the poorer cylinder heads and compression ratio, compared to the 275hp version.
I don't think a 340 was ever rated net by Mopar, but if it were, it would probably have been in the 180-195 range for the 8 to 1 motor.
(and almost everybody knows the 275hp version is very softly rated. Most, including nhra, say it should be 315-325hp)
