67 Barracuda. Wondering if I should paint my AAR Cuda style glass hood black or body color. If I go black should I paint cowl and valance also. Or just cowl and hood. Or paint hood, cowl, top of fenders, valence. Hood will be here soon 1 to 2 weeks. Body color is sunburst orange. I feel some most FABO members have better taste than me and have seen good and bad paint schemes.

I’m a fan of the orange with black hood..
Not sure what brand my hood is but it would take a lot of work to make the body color look good based on how wavy the fiberglass is.

That looks good. But my concern will it look funny with just a black hood and my front valance and cowl being orange and hood only black. It may look unfinished.

Rattle can it black and see if you like it. Won't take much to sand it off when you decide on the color.

I was thinking of trying that peel of paint. And do the cowl and then the front to see how it will look and maybe top of fenders.

Found this picture. I know it is a different hood, but the black looks good to me.

Have you thought about painting the hood body color & scoop black. I think that would look killer on an orange car...JMO :)

Paint it body color. Then later if u want a change have black vinyl put over it. U can always take the vinyl off

My biggest question is can you do the painting yourself? As dgibby said, it might take a lot of work to get a fiberglass hood straight enough to spray shiny. If you are paying a shop to do that, it will get pricy. I would get a quart of that peel off paint and roll it on with the smoothest roller you can find. That is the best way to see if you will like it. I would not, personally, paint the cowl.

i think with that hood the demon sizzler hood treatment would look killer
(it would follow the lines of the scoop)

Well, the hood already comes black, so just put it on and see if you like it.

It's not really black if it is anything like the one on my E body. More of a dark grey and the surface has a lot of ripples, looks like crap up close. I think a good start would be a couple coats of the Plastic Dip peel off paint to try it in the color you are interested in. If you are going to paint it I think a skim coat of filler is required to have any chance of a nice looking job, even with flat black.

Gotcha. In that case, a few cans of plastidip would probably be the easiest route

I think either satin black or body color. Just don't do cowl or fender tops.
