I talked to Jamie today and he believes shipping of the first units should begin in just a bit over a month. He was waiting on bearings and shifters but those items have been secured. He had to redesign the 5th /reverse interlock in order to mass produce the trannys efficiently. The design is completed, tolerances meet specifications and the parts are set to begin production. As soon as parts arrive he will be able to begin producing trannys!

I guess I'm late to the party on this one! Lol. I'd like to learn more about this. Could someone direct me to the thread on this subject! Thanks.

Thanks mopardude318. This looks great! But seriously they've been talking about it for years and still no pricing or availability? They keep saying this spring or six months! Sounds more like all talk and no product!!! It's just a picture and that's it anybody can Photoshop that! But if it's real they've got a hit on they're hands! Now if they can just beat out all the pricing on the other kits out there and make it worth our wild! Lot's of interest about it!

So true, but regardless just release the product. The consumers are going to tear it apart anyway. There is ZERO right at the beginning. He will never make money if he doesn't ship them.

My big problem with the trans is Passon has not improved the shifter linkage, i.e., heim joints and such.

I guess you do not know Jammie. He's transmissions are in cars for testing.

    The shifters work fine.

why would the shift linkage need heim joints?

His shifters are sourced from Hurst. I would think by now those folks might know a thing or two about making decent shifters.

Because I see the MAP price should offer more upgrades worthy of the price, not just OE style linkage. Like circle track the exterior mounted linkage is an area for improvement not just adding a 5th gear. There are a few people on FABO that have do just that with huge improvements.

Testing is all good, but real world will show if the dogs like it. I am not saying don't test, but it seems it has been a long time. Eventually the testing will have to be done and shipping the product will be priority.

He is going to lose money if he is not careful. You cannot test for everything. The real world will bring plenty testing.

      I am just saying.

I would rather Jammie take as much time as he needs to put out a product that he can stand behind no good busness man puts out a product that they wouldn`t buy we leave that to the chinese. I`m just glad someone is taking the time and alot of his own money to make a 5 speed that fits in a mopar without cutting the trans tunnel up:burnout:

I see it all the time, marketing jumping the gun to push engineering to get done sooner, but when there is an issues guess who to blame? In my case manufacturing, but.....

Bottom line, don't release it until it's ready, as in don't advertise it until it'd 99% ready.

McLeod started running their traps about a 5 speed that was in prototype, which sort of forced these guys to tell the world about their product, way ahead of time.

To no surprise, McLeod's 5 speed IDEA tanked and has not been progressed on since.

If you want to blame anyone for jumping the gun and being lazy, it's them.

This will be a great product. The last I heared was that it was just a reverse gear modification they made and were waiting on parts. That doesn't sound like a huge hurdle for the total end result.

Yeah it sucks that it was announced, more than anything, but it seems like they did it for a reason that is now moot, which is unfortunate.

I had some interest in this transmission when it was announced, because of the gear ratio in it. It would work great in a driver where fuel economy was a concern, but I don't think that's the idea with this trans, considering the cost and it's application has no concern over economy at all. It's all performance oriented and out of my budget, but it's still a great product that just needs completion.

I just talked with Jamie and he's still waiting for the 5th/reverse interlocks to arrive. He'd like to say two to three weeks but at this point he's been told so many dates from his suppliers that he won't make any guesses until the parts are in hand.
        The wait continues...........

The claim is "made in USA". Not sure if that means all components though............

I think it takes a bit of time for someone to machine splines on 300 or so interlocks, especially if the outsourced company also manufactures parts for other companies.

I only wish I could afford to be in the waiting list.

Shave the price in half and you've got double what I'm willing to be angry at myself for spending.

It's worth it for the fitment on some nice cars. Especially high dollar vin cars. I'm just cheap.

Building and delivering these transmissions just in time to be outdated
