Anyone running a Paxton supercharger ? Is it worth the money ?

What are your plans and expectations?
I bought a 360 stroker the guy built it with low compression so he could run a blower. Only has a few passes on it. Any ways. I thought it would be more cost effective to go with a supercharger to get alittle more HP. Instead of a complete rebuild. By the way im looking at a Paxton supercharger kit.

Drag racing?
Street racing?
Stoplight to stoplight?
Looks?
Sound?
Feel?

What I was trying to understand is why do you need the extra hp?

Paxton Novi 2000 were good head units. They were bought by Vortech many years ago, I see they still sell kits and individual heads.

I would say pretty much all of the above. The guy who built & ran the engine ( 360) is no longer around. It has a 3.79 stroke 4.00 bore & 8.5 compression It cant have much more that stock HP I would like to have a little more. Why not ?

That's the kit im looking at.

The Novi 2000 have been around a long time. It was there step away from the old SN series that were self contained and needed a special friction modified oil to work. Last I knew the Novi was oil pressure fed and you need a drain to the pan. Might call Vortech because like a turbo these are sized by use.

I would love to have a blower OR a paxton.

But for the money, nitrous might get the job done at 1/5 the cost.

The kit I am looking at is the NOVI-1200

A lot of people like nitrous but im not one of them. OMG if my friends even knew I was thinking of nitrous I would get a swift kit the a**

Routed propperly why would they have to know!

But I get it

A properly done Nitrous system is probably only half the cost not 1/5...
and don't forget the residual cost of refilling nitrous tanks...
When "they" say a complete nitrous kit that is probably less than half of what you actually need...
Don't be fooled into thinking it would be less complex then putting a Paxton ProCharger on. Probably more....
Been my experience that 99% or more of the people who put down nitrous or turn their nose up at it don't know a damn thing about it.. it'll be the questionably intelligent people who tell you it's just a matter of strapping a bottle in your trunk...

Anyways I think a Paxton ProCharger is a pretty cool idea... I'd like to learn more about all the things it takes to make one run...

I almost ordered a kit some years back. They ran 10 lbs of boost on a 360 in a E-body that previously ran 13.3's and it ran 10.8's with 10 lbs of boost was their claim. Maybe one day I'll look back into it.... I've played some with turbos but never a supercharger.

Because some is good a lot is great and to much is just about right.

The giggle juice is like a bad drug habit, always back to the dealer for more... While it is very effective in adding power, the forced induction set up is the way to go because it is always there and never needs a refill.

I put a Paxton VS57/SN60 hybrid on a Chevy 283 in a '31 Ford, it hauled balls!!

I ran a vortec V1 S-trim on a 347 small block ford in a mustang. It was good but centrifugal superchargers make rising boost curves. It’s not the instant “hit” of torque like a roots or the incredible flat boost curve of turbos. Although that can help for traction limited small tire street car stuff. My vote would be for turbos, the hp is almost free. I am done with belt driven intake manifolds. Unless of course you’re after the cool factor and nothing beats a roots blower for that.

Hijack in progress....

Back in the day the entire carb had to be in a presurized enclosure to use a paxton supercharger.(something about the pressure in the bores needing to be = to the pressure on the float bowls or something like that) Now I see flow through on carbs, why doesn't the positive pressure push the fuel back into the carb?

Hijack over.....

Thanks
