PEDAL TO Z BAR ROD

no the bracket spans the length of, and covers the spring to stiffen the box. It is roughly 7inches long and the ends are bent over at 90* to accommodate the spring.
If you didn't see it, my guess is that it's not there, cuz IDK if you can dislocate the spring with the bracket still installed.
I tried to find a pic, but no luck yet.

Also, may be a larger back-up support plate on the engine side firewall.
 
Back to the question in post#1. The rod is not worn out. You will notice the side the pin on the clutch arm pushes on is flat. That is so the pin ROLLS, not slides when the clutch is disengaged. It should be a "D" shape.
