After 2 years, finally got the 318 fired in my black 66 Barracuda. When the block was worked over at the machine shop, they removed the oil filter stem and plate. We have tried 2 different plates and 2 new oil filters and still have a significant leak. Any suggestions? This project has long passed the fun stage and is becoming aggravating! All my friends say I shoulda built a bow tie!!! And to think I have 4 more 66 A-Bodies to go. At least they are all in one piece, this one came in a lot of boxes!! Yes, we did use a new gasket!

Summit sells the 90* oil adapter kit (gaskets).I believe it comes with 3 gaskets, which 2 are for the*stem* part.I went through with the same leak and they worked for me.

I replaced mine awhile back when replacing all engine gaskets. I remember the Fel-Pro engine gasket set did not include the 2 bolt or stem gaskets, Scott refers to above. The gasket set included two outer, the thick one is used. I was able to find the inner bolt fiber gasket in an assortment at parts store. I fabricated the copper outside bolt washer using my lathe, and a 3/4" copper plumbing part. It all worked but, I had the original gaskets for measurement. The crush has to be correct, especially the inner stem, or there will an inner leak, resulting in some filter bypass. I think the inner washer thickness is about 1/8" before crush.
