I too have concluded that .002 is about the expansion of a hot valve train from cold. so .012/.022 cold will get you mighty close. I'd even pass on the electronic ignition: Points are reliable and repairable on the road. Not much benefit to electronic unless you run a cd ignition on top of that..

I'm surprise you say that.. I don't disagree that they're reliable or repairable. They can get dirty and worn and generally it's nice to have a dwell meter to check them? I just really like the electronic ignition for a one-and-done. then when you're tuning up you're not sure if the points are clean or if they're wearing out and all....
