Think I'm convinced of setting the car down on my 273/auto and k-member rather than goin in from the top. Need pics of jigs so I can design and build one. Plan on building a bracket with crossbar from front bumper mounts to lift the front. Plan on using an a-frame I built to lift the 51 body off of the frame, and a chain hoist(I never have luck with cherry picker, go to set it down a little and it goes a lot). What would an approximate weight on engine tranny k member be?
Thanks
Aaron

Here are some pics of what I made it fits all engines and can be used for assembly. the motor has its own brace until the trans is installed and that also is adjustable. The studs that go through the K-member have nuts on in the first picture. This is for assembly and to hold it in place on the lift. I use a ratchet strap on the trans mount. The extra cross brace is for picking it up with a forklift for storage. All mopar k-members take the same cart. I had B-bodies and Hemis on here.

Tip of the day for you: Cut the head off of 2 bolts (K member size)and screw them (hand tight) into the front and back (opposite side)where the K member attaches. Use them to line the K member up,when dropping the car.Screw the K member bolts into the 2 empty holes. Unscrew the dummy bolts, and screw in the 2 other K member bolts. Done.

Cool, thanks guys.
Gives me some ideas, I can get tubing at work, if I can't scrounge up enough around the farm. I don't weld myself, but have aneoghbor that will weld for me, or I can have it done at work (but only on the last friday of the month). Johnny I will have to remember that one
Thanks Again
Aaron

What height did everyone make their install stand. This Friday is "home project Friday" at work so I can use the cold saw to cut parts. My paln is 2x4 1/4 c-channel for the base(overkill, but it's what I have)with 2"sq 1/8 wall for the uprights.
Thanks
Aaron

We replaced the crappy 225 slant 6 with a 318 out of a '70 cuda. This was my 1st car. My great grandma bought this car new and my dad and I are dead set on getting it on the road before 2013. He's done most of The work because I've been too busy at work and with my new family. He knows so much about these old a bodies and I've been a dummy for not helping him as much as I should have. He's replaced the whole front suspension, the gas tank, cleaned the fuel lines, fixed the 8 3/4" rear end and much more. My dad is awesome and his knowledge of these a bodies is insane. The roof skin is destroyed due to the vinyl top. That is the only significant rust on the car.
