Bout to put my headers on and I think beforehand I'd like to put some new spark plugs and wires. It's a 318. Any suggestions. Keeping budget in mind.

I can't find my clothes rihg tnow but i figure ill answer this
Get NGK plugs because they aren't made in china like autolyte and ch@mpions are
if you want good wyers get taylor or aurora or magnecor
if you're OK with dogshit wires just ask for like 1973 dart 318 wires at the autoparts store itll be like $20 or so for a set

good luck have fun god bless
tired of being naked I need to find my clothe snow

LA 318? RN12YC Champion plugs. I've tried most of 'em, and these always performed the best. copper core, and cheap

I'd rather use the rC rather than the rN because I like the 5/8 hex. The plugs are the same other than that.

Autolite and Motorcraft are made in USA, just like Champion.

I use Taylor suppressor wires with Pertonix III and Champion plugs today and all is well!!!

I Have tried them all and not sure why Champion has got a bad name! They do not offer the colder ranges I Used to run in the day but still perform to expectations! I find that you my need to adjust electrode a bit but it seems every plug is that way anymore!

No they aren't as other posters have said. THere are old boxes that say "made in USA" or false advertising boxes. This is common in autoparts. There's news articles showing Champion made in China. Can't find any right now i'm hammered dude.

If you have header clearance issues, Accel makes a shorter sparkplug, part #'s 0416S-4 or 0414S-4

If he's putting headers on, he'll have no clearance issues...

I know that Motorcraft air filters, oil filters and spark plugs are still made here. I assumed (and incorrectly evidently) that since Autolite is also a Ford product they were still made here as well.

What a shame. Even still, keepin mind being made in China doesn't automatically mean "bad", it just means there's a higher probability.

Well...my Keith Black pistons are made in Mexico, my ohio h beams forged in China, my scat crank cast in China. Only thing American is the rings and bearings, oil pump maybe...valves....the 40 yr old and .040 over block is Americana...most for a while now is only machined or finished/ground here.

Taylor Spiro Pro wires and NGK plugs are what I sell and fire every engine I build with.

I'm not sure about the clearance issue with headers. I figured it would be easier to change plugs and wires before the headers. Are the Taylor wires good to use with headers?

Side note: I work at a company that makes metal products out of raw materials. We mostly do Car parts. Even thought we do extensive quality control, every once in a great while a bad part (not necessarily meaning faulty) will get by. Keep in mind though we are producing millions of parts per month.

Depends on the headers. If the headers run in front of the #5 & #7 cylinders, then you'll want the 90* boot at least on those two. If you have Dougs or TTI's, then the straight boot is ok

The Taylor's I put on in the 80's were still nice and flexible in 2012 and fit perfectly! The bad thing is they were solid core and did not work with my Pertonix III. The new surpression Taylor's are just as nice but required a bit of shorting to fit the Mopar 383 stock application they listed for the set! Also if you want closer to Factory authenticity some of the distributor ends have to changed to 90's.

The local auto stores don't carry the Rn12yc plugs. But do carry the rn14yc plugs. Will they work the same?

It's a little hotter plug. If they don't have 'em, tell them to get some. I can grab them at the local farm n fleet. 404 is the box number. Can't believe they don't stock 'em. but I know they could most likely get them over night.
