I was just being sarcastic because a lot of guys say they'd buy "if only it were closer" or "if only it were $1,000.00 cheaper", yada, yada.
He said he'd pay $5,500.00 for it so he could buy it and get it shipped for that.

I'm willing to bet it isn't as nice as it looks.
Personally I wouldn't pay the current $4,500.00 price for it. But that is me. I've never paid $4,500.00 for any of my cars, but then again not very many cars I have owned were running/driving vehicles with glossy paint.

It doesn't matter what anyone on these forums says it's worth.
The only thing that matters is what someone who is interested, has the money, and makes for an offer (or bids in eBays case).
If you're a potential buyer it may help be a guide towards value, but I notice people seem to guess on the pretty high side these past few years. It's easy to look at a few pictures and say that car is worth $6,000.00, but in reality there are a ton of factors to consider. If it turns out to be a bondo bucket or whatever they (we) are not the ones out the money.
My rule of thumb is things are always worth less then they appear to be worth. This means you never pay too much for anything, and you never end up having way more into something than it is "worth". Granted I miss out on a deal or two, but heh, that is the way it is in this hobby without any money.

On the other hand if your buying the car I'm curious to see it in more detail afterwards and I hope you get it cheap (whatever cheap is to you).

Certain parts of the US have fewer cars, more potential buyers so supply and demand drives up the price. Cars in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, etc tend to be rusted out, cars in the South and West tend to be in better condition and there are more of them (they didn't rust out) so a car that sells for $800 in Arizona would have an asking price of at least $1600 in Michigan.

Yea, here in CT you have to pay twice as much for a rusted out shell over a clean rust free shell in AZ. I know it looks good in pics, and I know it could be all bondo. Sometimes I see cars on here for like $2500 (solid running demon or duster, whatever it may be), I think it would be worth paying the $1200 to ship it to my house. Because that car would most likely sell for $4000+ in the NE.

Believe me, it is well worth paying the delivery fee to get a car from out west.
By the time you get a rust free car out there and ship it back east it is no more expesnsive than buying a car anywhere else. In fact the rust free cars I have bought from out west have all been much cheaper to purchase & ship than most people pay for some not so nice cars.
I always ask the owner if it is OK if the vehicle can sit for quite some time while I make shipping arrangements because it will (and usually does) take all of my money to purchase said car.
Of course I always make these arragements with the seller before I bid or talk price.

For shipping I use www.uship.com both as a casual hauler and a for shipping cars. Sometimes it takes a while to find a carrier that will agree to my terms/price, especially if your really cheap or live in the corner of the world time forgot (and nobody/no carriers travel through or have loads up this way like me; 2 strikes...) , but I've had nothing but fantastic experiences on there.

Well, I hope it went to a good home. Looked like a nice duster! I wish I could say that I could have bought it, because if I can find something close to me for around that price I might be in the market!

It was the one that was petty Blue in Ohio, trunk originally had a crazy wing on it and was removed in the pics, also at one time had side exhaust which were replaced with a new full exhaust and tips. Still have my 72 Dart Swinger Special for sale. For all the other members the reserve is $4100.00 on ebay.

    It finally just has.
These 40 degree July summer days are ridiculous! At least it was nice on the 4th!

I'll be coming down that way soon (Smithland, KY 42081). I'm picking up an original 1968 B-body Dana 60 4.10:1 Trac Lok rear end for my Bee.
