Hey guys, would love to hear of some different combos and why you liked them.
Guess i will start. I should preface this by saying i have had faster stuff, but this one is my favorite so far, and i will try and post why i think that.

70 Duster, all steel, full bench seat interior, bolt on fiberglass hemi dart scoop, uncut, not minitubbed. Shifted via the stock column shifter. 8 point mild steel cage, stock gas tank with 3/8 pickup, Holley black pump. 28 by 10 QTP’s on 8 inch wheels.
002/003 leafs, Comp engineering 3 ways at all four corners.
727, 4900 flash 8 inch convertor, 4.30 gear in 489 8.75 case with spool.
Race weight 3400 pounds with my 310 pounds driving, always a full tank of gas to help avoid slosh and uncovering pickup.

Engine

70 340 block 30 over
4 in cast Eagle stroker crank
Ross flattops( 11.5 compression)
Eagle H beams
Comp flat tappet with 1.6 Erson rockers. 260/266 598/623.....107 LSA, installed at 104( cam specced by Dwayne Porter)
Eddie heads stage 2 ported by Hensley. 275@600.... lots left in them
Weiand excellerator
Race Demon 1025RS 4150 carb( sweet piece)
TTI 1 5/8 step to 1 3/4 step headers with dynomax bullets behind them.

Best ET 10.74 @ 124.60.... 1.44 60....
Improvements left on the table...... swapping to 904 and 1 7/8 race type header likely would have yielded something around 10.45 to 10.55, but never got around to it( ultimately broke the cast crank, grenading the motor. Opening up heads more.

Why i liked it....... cool shifting the thing off the column and having the factory bench seat. Surprised a lot of people when they saw the car close up. In this guise, several times i drove the car on a 70 mile round trip jaunt to US131 to race it, and in fact i made the bracket finals team that season on the last point night of the year, needing 2 round wins and getting 4.

Lessons learned..... never lean on a cast stroker crank, the next year it let go, but had a lot of hits on it. And should have made the heads better from the get go

Ok.... lets hear some more combo’s......

That cam on a 112 will like nitrous more than something narrower would have

My brother is on his 4th car trying to beat me. His latest, and coolest is a 78 Dodge Warlock 5.7 Hemi swap with Viper 6 speed manual. I beat him easily the first time. Then he went nitrous and I beat him. Last fall he installed aluminum heads with valves as big as my fist and a custom ground cam. he's somewhere around 620 hp now. That's why I went nitrous. Can't have him winning now after all these years!

what fuel do you run in it?

what fuel do you run in it?
It depends. If I tune it down as I usually do, I lose HP but can run 93 octane. I tune it up for the track and run 110 octane racing gas. I am at 11.8:1 compression. I heard of an airport locally that sells airplane fuel really cheap. I'm going to hit them up this year.

A Hoover motor lol, an early 360 block bored 0.100 over with 340 pistons in it (378 cubes), all infernally balanced with Mallory, had 2.02 X heads on it, and a mild Icky cam 0.474 lift. Loved it because of uniqueness, reved quick, nice torque and horsepower. Then sold it lol.

71 360@4.042=367.5cid, KB 107s at .005 pop up. Plasma Moly file-fits.
Stock will-never-take-it 1971 crank, and older they're-gonna-blow 318 bushed rods
Factory 1971 sure-to-fly-apart balancer, 340 factory sure-to-explode flywheel, all balanced,etc.
OOTB Eddies, AirGap,ancient 750DP, fresh cold air from the top of the hood.
Mopar adjustable aluminum 1.6 arms, cut to length pushrods,.039 gaskets.
TTIs and dual 3inch full-length mandrel-bent tubes with TTI H-pipe
Hughes 223/230/110* Cam and HD lifters.
10.9Scr. When fresh was: about 185psi/almost zero LD/VP of 153..
Now has over 100,000 hard miles.
I shouldda run more cylinder pressure; it still and always has run 87E10, since built in 1999.

Ran a 12.9 on street tires (245/60-14s)with zero tuning. Spun the 295s at 50mph in second gear, with a foot stomp. Crazy sweet torque. Often spun to 60 mph plus. Revved to the moon; had to get a rev limiter. Got low 30s mpg Hiway mpg, with a 600, and double overdrive; 62=1510rpm.

Currently has a a 230/237/110 Hughes. Now goes 93 in the 1/8 at 3467 me in it, with no other changes, except H-pipe gone to accommodate GVOD. Does not get even 20mpgs with this cam, the 750DP, and now single OD; 62=2130rpm.
But man does it fly!
Not sure which is my favorite.

Street legal '65 Valiant 273 four door ran best of 12.72 @ 108 mph. Stock cylinder heads, commando pistons, Isky cam, 600 CFM Holley DP, A-833, 4.56 8 3/4 rear end with 10 inch slicks. My favorite childhood book was "The Little Engine That Could".

Mr. b3422w5...

Let’s get some pics up of that Duster!

Haha........there is a video of me making an interesting pass in it on youtube
It's called......Don's wheelstand....
Not sure how to post it on here.
If somebody can post it on here, listen closely on the video to the track announcer during the run

My favourite combo was back in the 80's, street/strip car >
1971 340 Cuda...3550lbs with me approx, all steel, no's matching.
All stock 9.8:1 340 bottom end + DC.590 solid cam, with stock 2.02 heads, no porting.
Holley strip Dominator int.,+ 2" spacer, 850DP, 1.3/4" hedman race hdrs.
4200 TA verter, 727 full manual std pattern (slapstick)
Stock L/springs clamped@front, longer spring hangers and long shocks+ p/snubber
Stock worn front shocks.
8.75" posi, 4.30's, 10x28 G/years
best n/a run 12.38@108.7, ran .40's all day long
max rpm 6300...motor made 368flyhp on track.
Super combo on the street as well, very docile and would take off on street tyres...a lot of fun.
here's a pic on 1 of its launches in 1986.

About 20 yrs ago I bought a 65 Valiant in Brooklyn for $2000 including a 2hr tow.
It had a 340 with J heads .484 mp cam, strip Dominator, 750 Holley, hooker fendrwell, 2800stall, 904 low gear manual vBody, ss springs, 4.30s, 26 inch MT sportsman pros.
It ran 12.20s@108 and you could hot lap it all day long. I eventually got it to run 12.0 and broke a tooth on the ring gear. Drove it home and cut it up. Still have everything under the bench and the car is still in the junk yard 10 minutes from my house.
You think I should .....

In 1969 I was 19 years old. I traded in my 1964 Savoy for a 69 Barracuda 340S fastback. It had 3.23 gears. All I did was put a set of Hooker Headers on it. It must have been one of those magical engines that just fell into place perfectly, because it was AWESOME. I used to beat Big block Corvettes, Road Runners, Fords you name it. I could count the number of times I was beaten on one hand. That car held the track record at an eighth mile strip near my home in its class for 1969 and 1970. Then got married, graduated from college and USAF ROTC as a 2nd Lt. and decided to get a more reasonable family style car. The 69 Barracuda I have now is a clone of that car.

this may piss some of u off, but my favorite was a sbc 406 in a vega, then later in a 93 gmc pick up. Went 10.28 in the vega, and hi elevens in the pick up, both street cars, and driven to work occasionally 56 mi. round trip. If the dam thing didn`t have an oil leak when hot that I couldn`t find, I`d still have it and have a bunch more coin!

My favorite? '70 AARcuda, red , black interior, all original, 4 speed, 3;55, all rust free number matching, original side exhaust, fiberglass hood, even had the rare for even those fast ratio steering. How fast?? Dunno , never cared!! just loved driving it and its looks. Sold it back when a restored one was worth $10,000!!!!! LOL

My favorite is my 1st mopar which I still own. 1975 dodge dart 360. Engine had a 280/474 cam, x heads (no porting done). Also 727 and an FTI 9.5" 3400-3600 stall converter. 3.55s out back. Always been such a fun nice running machine! Now took motor to swap cam for the loved and hated 292/508 purple cam and swapped rear gears for 3.91's. Also will try a Victor 340 intake and still run my 850 tweaked thermoquad. Have not yet started car in this new configuration. Hope it will be as fun or more!!
