i removed my power steering from my 72 duster as i had a manual box andcoupler needed for the swap. i also replaced the pitman arm and everything else felt tight...
i took k it out for a ride and jesus... it was all over the road and steered harder than i can remember any of my other manual steering vehicles.. the front end was gone through previously with all new parts, ball joints, bushings tie rods, pitman and idler...
I thought this was a pretty straight forward swap.i would expect an alignment to increase the caster for steering ease but dont know if it would help.the box supposedly was a low mile unit
that came from a 340 duster as well..and it felt tight?. have i missed something?

Is it a 16:1 quick ratio box?
3.5 turns lock-to-lock vs. 4.5.
Increased positive caster will increase steering effort.

"More" caster does not increase steering "ease". The further you lay the spindles "back" the straighter it tries to go and the more difficult it is to turn. Tires make a tremendous difference, not just size, either
