Does this need a backing plate?? If so does it come with it??

I think Meziere are the only ones that F you on the backing plate, having to buy it seperately for $80...;-(

Damn! When I sold my meziere pump I gave the back plate with it. That dude in Oz with the cool GIFs got an even better deal. BTW, the meziere backing plate corrodes despite the anodize coating.
