For a 69 Barracuda with the push button heater controls: I bought a "working" part to replace mine that had fallen apart. Only to find that it was about 5 pushes away from being in the same shape as my old one. So I pulled the back off (it was half off already) and found the wafer boards as in the picture. I can get this assembly back together by drilling and screwing it; does anyone know where I can get new wafer boards? Or - is there a good material to make my own out of? Ideas? Thanks...

Cut your losses now.
You can get these new on ebay for $25.00 - $100.00.
Just shop them around price wise.
I got a NOS one for $50.00 delivered.

Great advice. They did not have my exact part number, but sold me a similar part that they said would have the same wafers in it. They told me I could order the correct part for like $110 or buy the one they had for $20. I bought it, took it apart, robbed the wafers, cleaned everything up, drilled my old one out and screwed it back together, and it works great. $20 fix. Well, plus my time, but it was kind of fun to do- and now I know how it works.
