Not directly, OP asked about 300 hp /6, 273 or wherever, you said 360 or stay /6, so if the OP says no to 360 that only leaves 300 hp /6 over a 273 in your stated optionsYeah, but I never mentioned anything about the potential between the 273 or 225. I only stated that I personally would not swap a 273 into a later a body.
I don't see a /6 having more torque potential than a 273. Torque is Cid which 273 automatically wins and VE% and efficiency don't see a /6 having a clear advantage of even one especially both of those.Let me ask you this. How many 273s did they put in trucks or vans? How many slant sixes did they put in trucks and vans? Stock for stock, 2 bbl slant six vs 2 bbl 273 in a heavy vehicle and you need off idle grunt…
Op is asking about modified, 300 hp.Anything outside of that comparison really isn’t apples to apples because you can modify anything as far as your skills and $$$ can take you.

Although I do like V8 engines, I do have to agree with Rusty rat rod on this issue. Some of the neatest encounters I have had with people at Mopar car shows was somebody who had a slant six car that was pretty much untouched and original. They love driving the car, they love the attention it gets, and even though they are surrounded by hemi Cudas And other awesome big power Mopar’s at a Mopar show, those /6 cars get quite a bit of attention. I talked to a young kid one time (25ish) at a Mopar show for about 30 minutes. He was so excited to show me everything about his bone stock slant six 4 door car. Although it was pretty much original and a little rough around the edges, he had done a beautiful job of detailing it inside and out.Regardless of what the crowd says, it's always easier and more affordable to leave a car with the type engine it came with. That said, 300HP is a tall order for any slant 6 that doesn't have a blower or turbo. I have one on the stand now that MIGHT reach out and touch it, but it has a head that has had 318 valves put in it, it's been ported big time and the rest of the engine is far from stock. Even with all that, I would be very shocked if I got 300HP. But I'm not going for a number. I'm going to have fun. Remember, these cars are light. They don't need a crap load of power to be fun.

I made a statement that I would never pay money to swap a 273 into a 67+ A body. You brought up potentialities, not me.
I'm not saying 273 the greatest choice, it's just way better than trying to do a 300 hp /6.Everyone here knows you think the 273 has gilded tits and a sweet nectar hole. I disagree wholeheartedly.

I don't care if you would do a 300 hp /6 over a 273 and don't care if the OP ends up deciding to go that way after going over the facts, It's his car and decision all we can do is hopefully give the OP good info to help his decision, I'm not trying to turn you into a 273 fan.

To me people try to over sale the cons on eg.. 273, 318, 383 etc.. sometimes it's even a 340/360, I just try to paint a realistic picture for the OP that don't mean I'm endorsing or saying 273 is best option, but for 300 hp a 273 way better than a /6 but obviously larger would be generally be better eg.. 318, 360 or whatever.
