The trim rings I have for my 14x5.5 rims don't fit correctly. They measure 2 5/16" deep and are not hitting the inside portion of the wheel. I suspect they are correct for a 14x6 rim.
Does anyone have a good measurement for the depth for a 5.5 wide rim. Going to a car show/swap meet in Melbourne this weekend to see if I can find the right trim rings.
1st photo 2 5/16" depth.
2nd photo of trim ring not going in enough.
3rd photo correct fit that I want to get on my front rims. This pic is one of my rear tires (wheel vintiques 15x7 rim and trim ring).
Thanks for any info.

this broken link post was repaired by "view, copy, reply and paste URL in IMG tags" method. Took me 10 seconds. I was not OP, anyone can do it.

I'm reviving this thread because I'm having the same problem. I have factory 14x5.5" rims stamped with years 71 and 72. I don't know the vintage of the trim rings. In this picture you can see that the lip on the rim is less than 1/2" (as best I can measure, it's about 5/16"):

but the equivalent measurement on the trim ring is closer to 9/16":

Sure enough, when I press the ring in, it sticks out 1/4" from the rim on both the inside and outside diameters. If I'm looking at this right, the trim ring is made for a rim with a wider lip.

Replacement pictures needed because Dropbox shut down public links:
