I'm looking to buy a set of original 14" rally wheels for my '64 Dart GT convertible, to replace the stock 13" wheels and hubcaps.. These have the correct lug spacing of 5x4". I think they should bolt right onto my hubs.
I'm looking for a size the would serve well for just cruiseing and car shows.
What tire size would you suggest?
Thank you,
Steve

No wider than 7" with a 4.5" backspace in the rear. 6" on the front (the factory wheels were 5.5") 2.25 60's on the rear work well. 185's on the front. Bigger ones may work but you may have to trim.

My Dart convertible GT now has 13"red walls with stock hubcaps and look fine.

I'm torn between staying put, or switching to 14" MoPar rally wheels.

I have access to four 14", small lug (4") Rallys in great condition with OK tires. The seller is asking $600 plus my wheels on swap.

Does any one have an opinion to share about this swap?

Any and all insights will really be appreciated.

Thank you,
Steve

Pic of my car as is attached again.

I feel like that's a little steep, but it is 2026 and they aren't making any more 14" to my knowledge.

I would offer less, maybe $400 for the set and be prepared to pay $500.

Great pics and comments. Thank you!

I buoght the wheels and am cleaning them up. will post the reluts soon.

I bought the Rallye's, installed on the car and just didn't like how they looked on my '64.
I returned them, no problem.
I still want to up size to 14" and will search for those and 14" hub caps .
Thank you all for the comments and pics.

LOTS of 14" tires on the market still. I would say either a 205 70 or a 215 70 would be fine. The 215 70 might require a very small trim on the inside of the bottom front part of the wheel well.

my duster I run 195/70R14 on the front and 225/70R14 on the back. if you want the same size all around I'd probably go 205/70R14

Great advice,Thanx.
I'm on the lookout for a set of good 14" rims and new 205/70r 14 tires.

You can look here on the site for ones for sale or place a wanted ad. Bad thing about that is the shipping. Probably $40-$50 a wheel. You can buy new ones from places like Summit. They have a few choices. Probably the best place to find them is at a swap meet. Check Facebook Marketplace as well. There may be a set close to you.

the factory 14" SBP rims on my '76 duster were only 4.5" wide, stock tire size was D78, which is roughly comparable to a 185/75R14....realistically the widest tire you probably want to put on that width rim if that's what you find is probably the 195/70's.

one thing to consider, if you wanted to swap looks easily is to get factory 14x5.5" rallye wheels, take the trim rings and centers off and you should be able to run full 14" wheel covers, you could swap back and forth between the rallye wheel look with the centers and trim rings, and full wheel covers as your mood dictates....

The original wheels were 5 1/2 inches wide and the current repops are all 6 inches wide. Suggest that you measure what he is selling. They would both fit on a 67 and up car, not sure about an early A-body...

also, aren't there brake clearance issues with some brake kits and repop 14" rallyes?

Some sellers list the lug pattern of their 14" wheels as having 5x4.5" lug patterns, while some say 5x4".

Are they the same and just perhaps measured differently?
,
My current wheels are 13" 5x 4" measured center to center.

Thank you, Steve

This is a long post and is becoming kinda confused.

I'll try to explain what I'm looking for

I have a Dart with 13" stock wheels.

I want to swap for 14" stock wheels.

Do I need to find 14" wheels with a 5x4 lug pattern or a 5x4.5 lug pattern?

Right on! Thanx.

I got a nice set of 14" Fratzog full hub caps on fleaBay. $60 shipped.

I'll be searching for 5x4 whells. At local swap meets and wrecking yards.

Not too easy to find, but they are out there.

Thanx again for all the help.
Steve

you might want to target 5x4 bolt pattern 5 1/2 inch wide stock steel wheels. Most A-bodies came with 4 inch or 4 1/2 inch wide wheels. Before ralleye wheels came out in 1970, the 5 1/2 inch wheels came on a-bodies with disc brake and/or handling packages, with wheel covers or hub caps.

all these wheels work with A-body factory disc brakes, factory drum brakes and most 10 to 11 inch aftermarket discs.
