Hey, all I wanna do is get from 53 to 61 without 10 miles of detours (usually mismarked, no less) through city traffic!

It’s always construction and detours. The big portion of the interchange is done but they have things to finish up like highway 53 interchange isn’t finished. So there are detours for that.
You shouldn’t have problem getting to the North Shore if that’s where your headed.

But seriously, Bazza and his family live up there (Superior), and I have family on Park Point, so I’m up there every 3-4 weeks or so, and the road construction and detours seems to be damn near never ending.

Drive safe, and take ‘er nice and easy!

Thanks for the update, guys.
My niece, her husband and 5 kids (!) live in Superior, and my sister and brother-in-law live in Grand Marais, so usually Duluth is just a pass-through. The last few years have been an ordeal though- surface streets pulling a camper ain't a lot of fun!
 
Don't get an opportunity to see that too often
