Yep. We can't make our minds between a blue tick or a basset! The red bones are beautiful dogs too.Only thing better than a hound is two hounds!

If i have to choose it would be the blue tick... bassets are cool but just too mopey for me. I would go to shelters and find a hound or hound mix though.. I got my beagle cause a lady was walking in with him as i was walking out.. thanks for the puppy!Yep. We can't make our minds between a blue tick or a basset! The red bones are beautiful dogs too.
The one "con" for the basset is being needy. As in, it would need help into the truck. There's days I have a hard enough time getting myself in, let alone a short, heavy basset. Scamp pretty much goes everywhere with us, so it's nice to have a dog jump in by itself. If i have to choose it would be the blue tick... bassets are cool but just too mopey for me. They take up a lot of sofa and bed space, too!The one "con" for the basset is being needy. As in, it would need help into the truck. Yes! Scamp was a rescue. Breeders let her get trampled and sickly. She was the runt. My cousin works at the vet clinic they use. When they found out it was gonna cost money and not be able to sell with papers, they said put it down. My cousin worked with her a couple weeks and had her up and walking. We took over after that. She's leading a perfectly normal life. I can't imagine the logic in "just get rid of it".....Mine have all been rescues.
Of my current ones, one was abandoned in the woods as a failed "hunter", the other was a former breeder rescued from a puppy mill.
Each were afraid of their own shadows when we got them, but time and patience pays off- once a rescue decides they can trust you, they're all in. Loyal to a fault.
Quality time in the shop with one of the grandsons.
"Better let a little bit more helium outta them back tires there, Lloyd."
