An NOS 440 short block that I bought from Herb McCandless in 1994. Mr. McCandless had bought the remaining inventory from Chrysler after they decided that they didn't need to stock them any more. I paid $750 for it. I now wish that I had bought a few.

I built it to replace the 400 in my 1974 D200. The 400 ran fine, but I wanted a 440. I used the 3769902 heads, oil pan/pickup, exhaust manifolds, valve covers, and other accessories from the 400. I added a Mopar Performance P4286675 camshaft, 440 push rods, 440 distributor, 1978 440 Thermo-quad intake, and 1978 harmonic balancer for a cast iron crankshaft.

I'm not a fan of the Moroso lettering, but they made good, heavy wall, low profile chrome valve covers. Taller valve covers, such as Direct Connection chrome, interfere with the heater box.
