First of all, props go out to Jim Fillmore at Detroit Muscle Technologies for sending me a set of prototype insert gaskets for `67-8 Barracuda's. These were sent gratis on the condition that I offered feedback upon installation. So...here goes:

The reproductions are flat vinyl and require some slight bends be made so they fit correctly. The originals were injection molded and had a lip around the edge. These do NOT have that lip. While this little lip is missing, what you DO have is a gasket so that the inserts seal against the hood without metal to metal contact on your fresh paint.

Here's one of the gaskets after bending the long tabs. This is neccessary because......

...the inserts have a stepped lip that they sit in on the hood.

You can see this better in this picture.

And here's the insert installed. The gasket fit nice and everything lays down nicely. While these are not exact reproductions, they are still useful and very well made. DMT's pricing is very competitive compared to the other vendors selling these items, but DMT is offering the stuff no one else has.

A HUGE thank you to Jim at Detroit Muscle Technologies. If you need restoration gaskets, send him your money. He's "one of us..."
