really bad mopar news

Having worked for Chrysler in the 70's and Ford now I hate to see any American Auto Company in trouble, but right now they ALL ARE IN TROUBLE.

Part of the problem is their ability to build cars for the people, they want to build only ones that sell at least 200,000 of the same model in the same year, make extreme profits on each one and reward head management with stupid amounts of bonuses.

The Media has played a BIG part in the car market, how many times have you heard of the recalls, TSB's on Toyota? they have quite a few that never get talked about. Mind set is American cars are junk and Toyota is the new standard, (I worked for company that was 20% owned by Toyota) yes they do business differently, but have their share of problems.

I hope that some how Ford, Chrysler and yes even BRAND X General Motors make it thru this rough market

If it means a merger so be it. They have to get lean and aggressive in marketing, improve quality, IMPROVE design, improve gas mileage and hope the American people will buy their product and ship the Japanese, Korean and German manufacturers home and start charging them the same fees to bring their cars here as they do the US manufacturers to take them to their home land.

We Need A Save the US Maunufacturers, but with a recent commercial with our Presidential canidate stating now they are building super high efficent cars in Greenburg, IN, (new Honda Plant just opened) guess they don't understand what this does to the american auto workers.

I'm glad the people in the greensburg area get a chance at a good paying job with benefits, but what is it doing to the US?

Merger, OK with me, hope they survive!

GM will never sell enough vehicles to cover all the employee pensions they owe.
My best guess is within 5 years Ford will own both GM and Chrysler.
If you want to buy stock I suggest Ford, Coca-Cola, or natural gas.

witha ford merger they could share wheels to save money since theyre 4.5 on 5 . just a thought.lol

It really doesn't matter, they quit building Mopars a long time ago, they still put a Pentastar on there just to make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Every new Chrysler product out now is built out of plastic and wires. they are all junk.

I'd have to agree with moparsegura. I still prefer Dodge/Chrysler products as far as new cars go. But MOPAR no sorry just not the same thing. Yea I know, what about the Challenger. Gave it a real good open minded look see and cool car but a Mopar is Mopar.

I am a mechanic at my local dodge dealership, in the last 3 weeks we have lost 4 of our Canadian parts depots, and more are getting the axe,in the near future, Canada will have only one depot left in Calgray Alberta, and one in Minn. Usa, Has it stands parts are 3 days away. We have many pissed of cust that came in for warrenty work and no parts for 3 days, We have more cars out side waiting for parts than we fix in a day,. My job is not safe and i will getting laid off in the near future, I hope i will be called back in the spring when things pick up????? :clock:

Since Cerberus Capital Management invests primarily in companies which are near bankruptcy in hopes to make the businesses it acquires profitable, and they want to trade Chrysler's automotive operations to GM for GM's remaining 49 percent stake in GMAC, then GMAC must be in trouble.
It seems like a merger is inevitable, dollars and cents.
The next step is a sale to a foriegn company, they are already buying up our real estate.

As far as the market goes, buy buy buy. It runs in 20 years cycles.
I never understood why people would want to sell when the market is down, stop letting your emotions drive your financial decisions.

If the price of gas dropped, and you could stock pile it, would you wait until it came back up to $5 a gallon?

Bad time to retire though.

I doubt it will happen, although they (GM/Chrysler) along with other auto makers are sharing technologies on the hybrid platforms.
Thus the 5.7 hemi hybrid.

I'll second that....

May be off topic but what happens in 2010? Dodge losses the cummings to Ford. There goes the HD dodge trucks!! Navistar screwed Ford with that POS 6.0 ltr boat anchor. The 6.4 ltr ain't much better since you gotta pull the freakn cab just to clean a Turbo!! Will Dodge pick up Navistar?? If so, there goes their line of trucks...

I,m sorry I may have caused this buy buying an 89 vette last month to sit next to my dart in the garage. The cuda's and challengers I was looking at have priced themselves out of my reach for now.I did notice a bend on one of the vette rims that I hadn't noticed before,I suspect that the dart kicked the corvette bending the rim.I can understand though as I've had the swinger since 1981.:-D

who cares. chrysler died in the early 70's. then it became a german car, now a private company owns it. had to know that wouldn't be good. just let the joke die already.

I'm with Joe, all real Mopars deid after early 70s.

Being from Michigan and working in the automotive industry I can see how this is happening. The big three have never been effecient at building cars. They offset this by flooding the markets with their products. It's a global market now with more automakers in the business with more competetion. It use to be only the big three after they bought out all of the other american car companys that don't exist anymore and with only three car companys there was enough to go around. Now we have 10 maybe. You get a bad market like now and no one is buying cars. The import car makers work more effiecient and handle lean times better than the americans although they are hurting also just not as bad. Just my opinion. Jysnflem

I have my Plymouth and she is 44 and I am at 50 years of age I will keep it and do what has to be dun to keep it on the road , even if I have got to put an electric motor in it.

I think this is nothing but a way to put Millions in some of the pockets of some of the @#$%^^& in the busness :angry7:

Where did you hear that?

For years there has been a persistent rumor about Ford buying Cummins...Ford is getting Cummins motors...Dodge is loosing Cummins....

It's bull. At one point, Ford bought 15% of Cummins in an effort to acquire their motors for their trucks (have in the F450 and 550) but Cummins told Ford to bite it. They liked doing business with Dodge, and that was going to continue.

Eventually ford sold 2/3 of the Cummins stock they bought, and Cummins eventually regained the other 1/3. Dodge owns more of Cummins than Ford did.

Also, Dodge and Cummins have a new contract for a diesel engine destined for the 1500 in 2010.

Yes, that's right sports fans. If the sky don't fall and the creek don't rise, there will be a Cummins diesel in a Dodge 1500 truck in the near future

Let's All Pray Together That GM Just Goes Away!

That is what was being told to the Diesel techs at the Ford dealer i just retired from. They always blew smoke up all our asses.

Yup, it's true. In 2009 Mopar will merge with GM. By 2010, Ford will have no choice but to step in line and join in the big merger. This new company will forever be known as........

American Motors Corporation :toothy10::toothy10::toothy10:

Anybody wanna buy into their stock?

Ford does have the Cummins as an option on the F450 and F550 trucks, but that's as far as it goes.

Like I said. Cummins and Dodge have a new contract (now at least a year old) for a Cummins diesel that is going in to the 1500 pickups. Interestingly, it is NOT going to be an inline 6.
