I have the 1969 Dart AMD rear quarter panels and the aftermarket side marker bezels.

The side markers have a different style to connect to the panel. They have a stud instead of the machine screw into the captured nut.

I am at a lost as to how to fasten the bezels to the panel. The studs do not line up with the brackets in the panel and they look to be too long to get a nut on the inside if you drill new holes.

Did anyone ran into this problem and how did you attach the bezels?

Can the brackets be spread open a bit and can you cut the threaded rods down a bit to get the nuts on?

I read on here that there were two different sized marker lenses and bezels. You might have a mismatch.

I had to get the Classic Industries bezel. these were the only one they had.

I hate to try and bend it since the car is painted, plus the brackets are very stiff

will this work
Take out the lens from the bezel, cut the studs off. drill the bezel, Tapper the hole for the screw head. The quarter panel drill a bigger hole in the tabs and slip on the original clip to screw the bezel to.

After thinking about this, you are close.

Cut the studs off. put captive nuts on the panel. drill holes in the bezel to match the position of the captive nuts, then screw together.

I will take pictures so if anyone else comes across this problem

While you're taking pics, can we see more of that Dart?

Did you ever take pictures of this? I have just come across this exact problem.

You are trying to put front bezels one the rear. The rear bezels have no studs. They have holes, and attach with screws, before the reflector is stuck in. There are two small U clip slid onto those tabs for the screws to thread into. You also need to lengthen the slots a bit.

Thanks!

these were the only reflectors I saw in my piles of parts that I got with the car. And after reading manual realized the rears were different than the fronts but I don’t have any rear ones, so figured I’d make do for now, I’ll probably look for some rears as well.

This is what I was thinking, with captive nuts like OP.

Studs cut off and Holes drilled where red dots are. Add captive nuts (1/4 or M8/M10) then bolt together

I suppose modifying them may work, but using correct rear bezels would be better. I think the angle of the reflector is different front to rear. If you do drill holes. don't put them so far apart. You want to be able to slide the U-Clip onto the tab. Move your holes closer together and just lengthen the slots about 1/4"

I’ll look for some rear bezels.

Messed with it tonight, I had a bezel with one tab already broken so chopped them off. Just lengthened the slot a little. I was going to use 1/4 bolts but they only had 1in long bolts at Lowe’s last night, used 10s with a trim screw.

The bad part is that the tab on the right side (towards the front) prevents the bezel from sliding towards the front of the car anymore.
