Looking for some insight and suggestions. I have a 70 swinger that I'm currently having MRL build a 408 stroker for. We are shooting for somewhere between 450-500hp so torque will be around 500-520ish. Currently I have a 8.75 rear axle 3:55 sure grip with espo 1" above stock ride height springs. Odviously traction is going to be an issue with the standard small tires. I'm looking at my options for a wider tire.

Any suggestions on what size tire I should be trying to run with this HP/torque combination? Keep in mid this is strictly a street car. I may go to the track every now and then but not a big deal to me.

I'm thinking I will definitely need a spring relocation kit but will it be necessary to cut any material away from the inner trunk? Also my car has the chrome wheel well molding if that makes a difference. I'd also like to run stock looking sbp rallye wheels but not sure if anyone makes an aftermarket set wider than stock.

I've worked on a lot of cars but this area is all new to me. Thanks
Mark

I'm running N50s behind a MRL 408 with 3.23 gears...if you want traction, your going to want something wider then those ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but arnt n50s pretty much a 12.5" wide tire? I knew I'd have some traction issues lol but figured I could make it a little better lol

Yup over a foot wide and that little 408 still roasts them
Of course, I'm sure you could get better traction out of a narrower tire if you wanted to go with a 21st century tire

I think 275s are the widest you can fit, but I'm not sure
DO some browsing in the wheels and tires section, it has been coversed there for sure
