I finally found a rebuilt, true single field wire, round back alternator. Apon opening the box I noticed a few things. First a crack in the front housing. Looks like is got dropped at some time in its life. Second the stator looks like it was not clocked correctly on re assembly. Third, the ground lead for the output capacitor is in an unusual location and looks to be touching the insulation of a stator winding wire Also there is endplay, not a lot, but it is audable, kind of the feel on a front wheel bearing when it is just right. What say you. Am I being too picky?
I heard back from the seller and he is refunding my purchase. That is beyond awesome customer service, and way more than I expected. The company is Roseville Moparts. Their customer service and communication was exceptional.
