I'm going up to Pittsburgh for a couple days.

My step dad passed away suddenly.

All 7 of us kids are getting together to go support Mom so I am renting a new Charger from the rental company I used to work at when I lived up there.

I have not been up there for ten years now and I'm looking forward to seeing some of my old buddies that actually still work there.

Man, I can remember really learning how to "drive" after I started working there.
i learned how to maser J-turns in front wheel drive vehicles, learned how to get minivans out of mud holes, learned how to go 40 MPH in reverse, slam it into low and punch it to make smoke come through the vents of the intrepids.
Learned how to enter an icy parking lot sideways, and make a front wheel drive car do continuous motion 360's by using the parking brake, reverse and drive in unison.

We had all the new Chrysler products at our disposal, unfortunately the most powerful vehicles we had were the 3.5 liter intrepids, visions, and LHS's.

We had push-o-wars and great burnout contests in the 4.0 jeep cherokee sports and I got to take them home all the time when it snowed heavily.

Although the pay sucked I actually think that was my favorite job ever beating those rental cars and getting to drive like an idiot all day long.

I seriously doubt if they have any hemi chargers, but I will be sure to ask.

If by some chance I get a hemi charger I will be sure to get some pics of melting rubber.

Nothing like beating a rental car.

John, have a great time under the circumstances! Very sorry to hear about your step dad though. Keep your chin up and be proud for supporting your mom during this tough time.

My thoughts are with you my friend!! (((((( hug ))))))

Thanks, he was a tough old bird at 86 y/o.

He was also a German who helped stifle the Nazi's advance in the Warsaw ghetto, and held them off for weeks with confiscated weapons they took from their kills.

He was a war hero without ever wearing a uniform.

He escaped warsaw by sneaking onto a train and hid in a farmers field in the former Yugoslavia among sheep and other livestock.
The farm he hid in was taken over by nazi officers that killed the owners but kept their daughters as slaves.

He finally helped the girls escape one night when they entered the barn to tend the animals.
They had no willpower to leave and it was hard for him to motivate them as their spirit was broken and they were very afraid.

He assured them they would be fine and he got them to follow him to an abandoned burned out farm 15 miles away.
They lived there for months by hunting small game and drinking from a spring.

Hey John,

My condolences .. We have a lot in common .. I too come from a family of seven kids, and my former in-laws also escaped to America, but from a work camp outside of Hamburg .. My ex was born there, and was two years old when they came here ... They also didn't speak a WORD of English, and no one spoke German for them, but that's a whole other discussion ...

Now for a little levity, and maybe even fun O:)I also have a hemi charger, and if you get one, be sure to do the following .........

Safe trip home bud,
