I have an older MSD 6AL (6420 model) which is the analog one.

It's been giving me intermittent start issues and I'm about to replace it (6AL 6425 probably). My mech (who's a Mopar guy) isn't a fan and he's pulled them off his own Superbird and 70 'Cuda 440 and returned to stock.

I'm not sure if I want to chuck MSD altogether just yet but weighing my options. Already have an MSD dizzy and Blaster SS so it's easy enough just to swap MSD. In my googling, I saw mention of the Crane and Mallory 6AL versions. I've also discovered that choosing an ignition box can be a bit of a 'religion'. I get that MSD has had issues, but seems the other ones do too. I don't really care if one is slightly cheaper, I'm just trying to get running and be reliable.

1) For street use, any big reason to try Crane or Mallory? I'm guessing no, but figured I'd ask.
2) Anyone know which Crane and Mallory are dropins for the MSD 6AL 6425? I'd prefer not to change anything other than wire a new box.

Much thanks in advance.

Have you researched "Firecore"

We knew we needed to up-grade from the stock ignition

due to breaking up at higher RPM's

installed the "Firecore" ignition

went from 7.22 to a 6.87 off the trailer
