Better choice. Doesn't melt. The OEM shale grease would become metal laden crud in the square port on back of the speedo. Cram a new cable in and kill the instrument in short order.

Yep did a lot of research seems dry graphite is popular along with lock ease and other types of grease, I don’t think it spins that fast to generate much heat my original cable had no remnants of grease it was dry as a desert bone it only went bad after I pulled the dash and reinstalled the cable to the speedo. Probably changed the way the speedo inner cable was riding in the outer housing. If it starts to bounce in the future I will try a moly grease with some dry graphite mixed in
