Dick Dale, king of the surf guitar dies at 81.
Looked up to by every big time guitar player in the business.
One of the baddest dudes to ever throw a guitar over his shoulder.
Saw him back in 1998. The dude played so hard on his guitar, that strings were breaking left and right.
I was amazed that he didn't skip a beat, and restrung his guitar while playing !!!!
Surfing is my life, so this hits home. Got him on Pandora in the garage as we speak.
Thanks for all the memories Dick. Drop in on that big barrel in the sky. :)

Saw an interview where he said that Strat he played was the only one he ever owned! Given to him by Leo Fender around 1955. I wonder how many refrets and/or new necks it had. Used .020 to .060 strings... wow!

That guitar LOOKED like it had been the only one!!! I was never a 'groupie' and barely knew who he was, but I sure liked some of his stuff. Damn it seems he had a bad last few years

never heard his name but after watching a few vids I sure know his sound .
I can barely play a radio but god I wish I could play an instrument!

I likes me some surf and surf-punk!

RIP

Oh man, I know a few friends that will be hart broken to know he has past, he could shred a guitar and keep people on there toes and out of the seats .
RIP sir, thank you for all the super times

I bet him and SRV are jamming in the sky as we post these
