So the repop saga continues,, so I have oer rocker moldings ( from classic industries) on a 1969 dart. New rocker moldings retainers from classic industries … the repops are such poor quality that they are 1/8 inch wider that the retainers don’t even come close to fitting. What’s everyone doing for this situation,, original rocker moldings are not usable

Have you looked for good used ones? A Parts Wanted Ad can do wonders.

there are 2 types and the newer ones are 1/8" wider than the older ones.
Correct '68 - '69 moldings are very narrow... 9/16" or 5/8" at the most.
Maybe they sent you later model mouldings and early clips.

The Layson's catalog lists 67-69 and 70-74 with different part numbers. They do note there were either 1 or 3" moldings for the 67 Darts and the 3" molding is not reproduced.

The moldings are probably ok but the clips are wrong. Just my guess.

I took a set of vice grips plyers, wrapped the jaw in several layers of tape and worked my repops to be narrower. Look them over too with a file, there will be burrs and other sharp dingle berries. After it was all said and done they still pop off if bumped by someone who just can't seem to get their heel out out and away. In fact, I just pushed the passenger one back on Tuesday when I took the trash out after remembering my 12 year old "did the thing."
