So tomorrow (14th) the wife and I are taking off on a Route 66 adventure in the 65 Dart ragtop. We're not starting in Chicago but driving south (we're in Mpls, MN) to Kansas City where we'll stay first night. So Wed morning we'll jump on at Galena, KS and start heading West. We're hoping to be in Santa Monica by the 25th.
Anyway the wife has put together a site called "Red Car Chronicles" on Facebook & Instagram I believe. So if you're bored or sitting around eating a tuna sandwich in front of your computer and wondering where that knucklehead with the Dart is look us up. The car is as ready as it will ever be, keeping my fingers crossed as we travel.
Hoping to have tons of pics and video's to post as we go along.:steering:

Good luck and have fun!!! So much to see, they say Route 66 takes 2 weeks to see most of it, we spent a week there and another week going home up the west cost on HWY 1....which way you coming home? We were gone 12 days, 5,300 miles, wish it was longer lol! From Minnesota, we started 66 in Joplin MO....Galena was a fun stop! Some neat stuff to see, I absolutely loves our trip there and think about it all the time!

I really liked the Blue Swallow in NM. El Rancho in NM was a history lesson. Pretty cool. And of course Winslow AZ.

To 66340sedan, about 12 going out. Spending extra day for Santa Fe and extra day for Grand Canyon. Probably back track to Flagstaff, we want to go up thru Monument Valley and then Moab. If I-70 is open back thru Denver (sister) then Lincoln (friends) then home. Luv your pics

Sounds like a fun trip. Us Okies are said to have more miles of original road than any other state. Think they are still making us drive on some of it. LOL. If you are starting in morning from KC you might be in Miami (pronunciation is MI AM AH) Oklahoma around lunch. Try the koo koo a hamburger place on your route and they are car people. Will probably be a Fairlane parked out front. I've eaten there since the 70's. Don't blink near Catoosa OK or you will miss the famous blue whale. Several other interesting things to see in Tulsa area and on across Oklahoma. We live just north of Tulsa off US 169. Enjoy and be careful.

Some of the stretches I liked best were in Oklahoma, the frontage road in many places is “Old 66” and worth a stop, many sections are blocked off and look like nobody has been on them i years....I loved it! Some places the original 66 stretch is hard to find, so be sure to take your time....also the old diners are by far the best places to eat at!

Quite a bit to see in Seligman AZ. also. As you probably know, the longest continuous piece of Rt. 66 is in AZ. And as mentioned above the Donkeys in Oatman is a must see. Have fun!

You’ll have to stop at the Mid Point Cafe in Adrian Tx. For some ugly pie, there’s an old red Ford pickup out front that everyone signs..

I want everyone to remember I won't be doing much posting here. If you want to follow our trip go to Red Car Chronicles on Facebook or Instagram. My wife will be doing most of the pics and video's. Thanks again for all the support :)

That bit of 66 coming into Oatman from the east is challenging to say the least :steering:. Between Needles and Barstow you will pass 2 volcanic craters, something you don't do everyday. Try not to stop in Newbury Springs, it's like the meth lab capitol of SoCal.

Great idea! My wife and i did that about 20 years ago in our 63 vart convert. Side trips to Santa Fe and the Meteor Crater were worthwhile also.
