Can anyone tell me why when I put my foot on the brake pedal my engine increases in RPM. I don't have a tac but I can hear it. Is this a sign of a problem with my brake booster?

Happened to me once, then I realized the side of my foot was hitting the gas pedal.

Does your car have power brakes? if so your booster diaphragm is leaking a little bit and allowing vacuum to in crease when you step on the brake.

thanks alot, I was kind of thinking something along those lines. you confirmed it. thanks again :)

on top of the vacume leak that may be present, seems the car might be running a bit rich, contributing to the leaky brake booster problem jmo

Thanks I will look into it. I just installed a new 4bl carb and intake and did not know it would effect the brake system.
