I recently posted a parts wanted ad in the forums and received email notification that 2 people responded to my post. So I pulled up my post thread and there are no responses shown. I then searched all forums for the names of the responders and curiously neither name could be found. Suspicious? Scam? Thanks.

Sounds like a question for one of the local Admins....

I believe you posted your wanted part in the wrong section and it was deleted. You posted it in the exhaust forum correct?

Thanks, yes I did repost - in the parts wanted forum.
Yes, your first thread was deleted. It was in the exhaust forum and not in a Parts Wanted forum. Now, as far as the scammer, it is entirely possible the scammer posted on another members thread and they reported it. Often times, I delete spam accounts and there are other accounts with the same IP address. (same person, different user names) When I delete one it deletes them all. If you get anything suspicious, hit the report button and let us handle it.

Mike - Reporting to FABO the second such email I've received this month . . .

My Gmail inbox listed an incoming email from "For A Bodies Only M." (notice the "M." at the end. When you hover your cursor over the sender, it says "[email protected]").
The subject line says "McNair67 started a private conversation with you: "'71 Duster 340 Exhaust Manifold" (I did post a parts wanted ad this month with that subject line).
Opening the suspicious email shows a "view this conversation" button, but when you click on it, it takes you to a FABO page saying "the requested conversation cannot be found".
I did a search in FABO for member "McNair76" and found nothing.

If it would help FABO admin, I can forward the suspicious email if you can provide me an email address to forward it to. Thanks, Dave

It's probably best to send a PM to Joeychgo and explain what you are experiencing.

There are times when either Joey or a Mod will pick up on a scammer before most even realise it.

It gets dealt with promptly and usually there is no need to alert the members. That only excites scammers even more knowing they are busting through.
We give them the silent bounce-back treatment....they don't know what has happened.

Please remember that any suspicious activity should be Reported immediately - it could save some a lot of pain and money.
