Seeking shipping advice

I have a pair of AMD quarter skins that I may possibly beshipping. I am trying to find out what the most economical way to do this would be. The potential buyer would need it to be dropped at a business. They do not have the ability to pick up from the transfer station. Can anybody give me any Advice as to where to check with? Also, should they be palletized? They are still currently in the original AMD packaging. Thank you very much for any input

I think these exceed greyhound size limit, but the main thing is, buyer does not have the ability to pick up from a terminal. Must be dropped off at their business.
 
Get ready to be bent over.

Greyhound is best, but, if buyer can't pick up, they are going to get hammered on delivery. Most LTL freighters charge close to an additional $100 for non-terminal/dock/forklift delivery. Just the way it is now on large items. Prices are so out of hand it's not funny.

Greyhound is something like 80x50 for the largest two dimensions. The third would not be an issue for those items.
 
Greyhound max length is around 90-95 inches and 95/100 lbs. I know that I've shipped the A body front frames (from grill to trans cross member) but I had to separate left from right. To get a Greyhound estimate on line all you need is length and weight. But if buyer can't go to Greyhound to pick up...there's going to be a problem.

I'm sure that this is not what You want to hear -- BUT -- When I was in The Used Mopar Parts Business, shipping of sheet metal parts was such a PITA, that I stopped doing it.
 
If it's a business address UPS will give you a discount. But you shouldn't have to palletize. The only thing to have to be careful about is damage during shipment.

Someone else suggested fastenal a while back so I went in there and ask and they just laughed at me they are a nut bolt fastener supplier not a shipping facility. Not the same fastenal?
 
Gerald is right, they will ship Brian. Me and moparmatt called them. They were pricey for us so we nixed the deal (fb trim).
If you call fastenal, ask for their logistics department. They cross borders too.

Check online. They do store to store ship. I have read it was reasonable based on no extra for oversize. Never used them but anything is worth a shot.
 
You are taking a risk selling it with offering to ship it.... If it is damaged, you will fight to win your claim.... Just telling from what I know about Freight in general....

Oversized Pallet, strongly secured, and using a Freight Company is the only way to go. Extensive pictures including your packaging efforts will go a long, long ways.... I know personally that it affects the outcome if there is a claims dispute. Given the nature of the item being shipped, there is certainly a risk.

As for the cost of shipping it this way, the cost is the cost. Your potential buyer hopefully understands the complication of shipping Metal. Otherwise why even take the risk as a seller? IMO Freight is the only way to go if Pickup is not an option...

Whoever was at greyhound jacked you. I've sent multiple sets of frame rails strapped together via greyhound. 82x47x29 is the package size limit. A pair of rils easily fits within those dimensions. Weight is not an issue at 100# max

I've sent complete floor pans on the Dog as well.

Good luck to the OP. Check fedex freight. Pricey
 
Not to ruin your chance at a sale, but why would they not buy them directly from AMD and have them ship it to their place of business???
 
how were they shipped to you? Check with that carrier.

I picked them up at a local AMD dealer near me. I am trying to sell local, but had a guy reach out if we could possibly ship. I am selling them at a pretty good discount from any dealer, and one side is not available at the moment
