Well I wasn't sure where to post this but I have a 1946 Willys cj2a and the motor locked up the other day when I was heading to a car show. I'm not sure where to start on disassembly. Pull the head first or the pan?

Thanks guys.

I would start st the bottom first since thats where all the major rotating parts are.

You HAVE checked?? that it's not the clutch, transmission or to the rear from there?

I also have a 48 cj-2a.
I rebuilt the motor a few years ago, pretty basic engines.
Seized when running? my guess is the oil pump went out.
Check out this web site, it was very helpful on my build.

These engines are simple, like briggs and stratton simple, except they are water cooled.
Check the basics, is the coolent full, extra fluid in the oil pan?
These engines run HOT at anything more than 35 mph.
Pull the plugs and see if you have anti-freeze in there, head gaskets are not the strong point of these motor.
What was the oil pressure gauge reading when it seized, mine runs 60 cold and 30 hot.
