so about four years ago i desided i wanted a classic shop truck for a daily driver
nothing too nice ,i could trough tires in the back ,just want reliable ,dents ,some patina ok
was on ebay and bought a 67 dodge step side d100 from texas ,add said hasn't run for a couple of years come with parts
so the only thing i don't want is rust ...texas trunk slant 3 speed how hard could it be
talked to the guy and he asks if i wanted the parts truck too ....(miss read thought it was just parts ..) sure
had them shipped to me ...wish i could find those pics
had it for a couple of months ,took off carb ,rebuilt it ,took starter off the parts truck got it running ...runs like crap ,missfiring...but can yard drive it
must have had 10 people stop in asking if it was for sale
so this lady stops in to ask about it .....i tell her its not for sale ! she oh no i want to rent it for a photo op at the xmas tree farm
i tell her sure ...its about 2 miles away ...drove it there ,clutch slips, brakes pull ,running on 5 got there ,got some free family pics(did take any $$)
and "Donald "dodge got back to the shop
first thing i did was compression test and found a funky cylinder ..had compression then didn't ...figure head was coming off
so i pulled the head off the parts truck ...sent it to my machine shop ,as i pulled the r/f fender off the parts truck (it was the only body damage on the shop truck )
after i pulled the nose i started to pull the springs and king pins ,thats when it started going down hill,my friend was telling me well you have to paint it (its a shop truck rusty is ok)
then i got a disk brake set-up (caliper mounts are on don't like it may go back to drums)
spring mount was seized in the frame and broken ,same as one in the parts truck ...good thing cause by now i found out you can't find anything for sweptline trucks
removed the rear all new spring bushings ,all new bearing and seals ,painted ...that was about 2 years ago
mean while i found a quad headlight front end one door in new mexico just cause it was a texas truck still had some rust ,cab only needed front floors and outer rockers
aboult six months ago sent the cab out to be blasted just got it back monday ,and pulled the frame around today ,still need to clean and paint the middle

so some guy on sweptline.org (feel bad cause that forum died)
needed the oil pan off the slant for his build (it was the wrong pan on mine anyway)
traded hes clean, painted pan for my dirty rusty one ,thats when i pulled the engine cleaned it and found it had two bent push rods
sold the one parts truck and bought another lucky for me it had a good exhaust mani
it just needs valves adjusted and trans mounts ready to go on frame

flywheel is at oldmanmopars kids shop getting cut will try and get it this sunday
then i'll put the cab back on

well finally got the pilot bushing worked out ....
the one the was in there just fell out ,the hole in the crank was a couple of thousands too big
so bought the one that fits in the converter hole ...works great
what a pia bell bolt to the trans first so have to bench press the flywheel /clucth from under
but yea ...trans is in , next week i'll put the drive shaft in and blast/paint the fork ...then bolt the cab on
