Just thought some of you folks would want to know-

I emailed Hayden to see if they offer an HD fan clutch with a shorter 'jag' style shaft. Apparently they've been looking into this because they've gotten plenty of inquiries from Mopar folks, since their commonly used 2765 jag clutch isn't rated to spin a heavier steel fan (they were designed for plastic jag fans.) Turns out the gentleman whom I've been in contact with at Hayden had the engineers make up several protoypes of the 2747 clutch with the 2765 shaft. Hopefully they will go into full production. He said the total height was ~2.8". He ended up sending me one to try out. I'll post some pictures when I get it installed.

If you guys are interested in such a product, I recommend you email or call them. They don't have a part number yet because they've only made a few, but I'm sure getting emails/calls from folks who would buy such a product would speed up the process.

This is needed, I'm guessing they corrected the mounting holes also ( clutch to water pump). Might want to post this on the other sites like moparts, FBBO etc.. Thanks for your leg work!

What was the problem with the mounting holes? Was it an issue with the 2747 clutch, or the 2765 clutch?

The difference I noted was a larger center register for the Jag fan. IIRC there was a bushing included with my fan clutch to adapt to the smaller register on our water pumps.

I had no problem bolting my old fan blades onto it.

That and also if I remember correctly the bolt heads are about 70% on the flat mount with the rest off the edge. They were slotted mount holes.

I guess as long as they send the adapter bushing, I'll be fine.

I'm assuming any clutch fan that fits the 2747 clutch, since that's the clutch body the engineers used. It's supposed to show up tonight, so I'll keep you posted.

It came today and looks pretty good. Still has the slots for the water pump bolts, but that's what washers are for. And it's made right here in the USA. I'm about to start drinking and go to a holiday party. If the weather holds out tomorrow, I'll bolt it up with my Champion radiator and take some installed pictures. For those wondering, I measured the height right at 2.8"

Let us know if it moves a lot more air than the jag clutch! Looks like it will.

Got it bolted up. It looks pretty good. The pilot hole is large, so I needed to pick up a .75-.625" reducer bushing for it to fit snug. Not a big deal. Also, as already said, the diameter of the water pump mount is small which makes a portion of the clutch-water pump bolts exposed in the water pump mount slots as seen in the picture. I'm pretty sure it should still work fine, especially with a larger washer.

On the good side, I've got about .625" clearance between the clutch and the 3-row champion radiator.

You should. I'm sure they'll probably want to iron out a couple minor issues before putting these into productions. But once they do, these will probably sell very well. I just emailed my pictures and input to the man I've been in contact with from the manufacturer. I'll let you know what his response is.

No I did not. I was about to buy one when I decided to email Hayden to see if they had a short heavy duty clutch for steel fans.

I got a email back from them today. Here is what it said.

"As of today we do not have a part number for the Mopar fan clutch in development. Currently we do not sell direct to the public. If everything goes well this item will be available soon to order through Summit Racing, JEGS, and/or retailers should they desire to add this product to their offering to customers."
