...more like of the "stay home stay safe" part of it. Was texting with a friend that is an AZ DPS Officer (State Police). Last text I got from this morning....hate to cut this short but gotta go, homicide just down the road. Just asked him if he was ok. He said it was a couple that have had several domestic violence calls since the "stay safe stay home" started. Guy shot/killed his wife. Refused to surrender...so they released a K9 Officer on him...
Buddy told me that domestic violence calls have skyrocketed since the cstay safe stay home" has started. He said that this couple has had several visits by LEO since the virus outbreak started...no history of any prior to it.

Refused to surrender...

Sorry to hear that, hope your friend is ok. Being in close quarters gets challenging, especially if there is underlying tension. I remember living in Winnipeg, and how the crime rates fluctuated with the temperature, including the types of calls the police received, more domestic incidents in the cold winter months, and more violent crimes in the heat of summer.
The uncertainty of life today, given the seriousness of this virus and it's potential to kill thousands, added to the financial strain that so many people are feeling can easily become overwhelming. I'm glad that I am still going to work every day, getting 8 to 9 hours daily, it keeps me from stressing about what's going on, though it's impossible to ignore since it's everywhere, from the far less traffic on the roads to every person I deal with and the policy changes that have been put into effect because of the pandemic, I have to focus on what I'm doing and that makes the day go by.

I've heard child abuse cases have spiked, since kids no longer have the "haven" of school

I bet the suicide rate has gone up, as well.

This has been happening to our farmers for a couple of years now. Because of the tariffs, they couldn't sell their crops, lost their income, and lost or were about to lose their farms. Having your business fail is one thing. But losing a farm that your father and grandfather owned and succeeded in running it during their lifetimes is another. A big increase in suicides of small family farms due to mental stress. And America needs them more than ever now.

read about potato farmers in the Netherlands being hit hard
I guess potatoes are a big menu item there, but with the quarantine people dont eat out

so instead of getting 18 eurocent for a kilo, the farmer got q cent because he could only sell it as fodder

If there is a "business" that needs to be helped, it's the farmers. We can survive without airlines, hotels, casinos, etc. We cannot survive without food!!!

VERY TRUE.............................except there are a few folks that will go into withdrawal without a place to gamble????

Crime in Chicago has gone down since the stay at home implemented....

Good time to be a criminal right now. Good chance you'll get off the hook.

Was talking to an officer the other day and he said calls are way down but traffic accidents are up.

I live on a popular road for fast driving and the speeds that the rice rockets are going is nuts. I can hear them at night just screaming up the hill. Right by my shop a new GT mustang lost control and hit a parked car so fast it scattered both cars and days later their is still parts laying on the side of the street.
