I am working on a 1972 duster. The car came with the original 340. I am wanting to use a 1966 318 just to keep the car mobile while doing the restoration. I took the motor mounts off of the 340 and put them on the 318 but now there is not enough room for the fan. Everything is to close and suggestions?

Um, yeah- LA318s didn't debut until '68. It may have come out of a '66, but it ain't original.
Pics, pics, pics...

340 and 318 mounts are different. DONT lose the 340 mounts. $$$. Buy a set of 318.mounts for like $40??

66 318 could be a 273. Everything from any LA should bolt right up except the right (passenger) motor mount installation wise. Does it have rectangular valve covers or are they sawtooth? These are 318 poly, mount fitment unknown on a poly.

This may not help but the mounts go on the backside of the engine lugs.

Post #12, that engine should be 3/4" shorter than the 340..
